The Baker Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at Juniata College, and the Peace and Justice Studies Association (PJSA) are pleased to extend an invitation to participate in a conference on “Reconstructing Peace Studies: Assessing New Knowledge & Outcomes.”

Institutions of higher education around the globe are being pressed to identify and assess program goals and student learning outcomes for every field of study. The purpose of this conference is to begin a conversation engaging these questions for the field of Peace Studies. This collaborative project envisions a small, working conference that explores how we identify, name and assess the knowledge, attitudes and skills that students studying in a Peace Studies program should encounter and develop as part of their studies, as well as assessment strategies at both course and program levels.

In bringing together a diverse set of scholars we hope to stimulate our thinking about the purpose and meaning of the field in the 21st century; how to best equip students to deal with emerging global challenges, what it means to engage students in the learning process, and how we build strong programs even as we resist attempts to homogenize higher education.
